JAKARTA (TimesofIDN) – The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is intensifying efforts to promote a transition to a sustainable, low-carbon green industry in Indonesia through the Annual Indonesia Green Industry Summit (AIGIS) Goes to Campus initiative.
This program aims to engage young generations, particularly university communities, in contributing to the development of environmentally friendly industries.
“The initiative is designed to expand the network of ideas and contributions from the younger generation, especially academia, toward Indonesia’s green industry. The AIGIS Goes to Campus series is held at four universities. Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Padjajaran, Universitas Trisakti, and Universitas Bina Nusantara—along with one additional campus, the Bandung Textile Technology College,” said Andi Rizaldi, Head of the Industrial Services Standardization and Policy Agency (BSKJI) at Kemenperin, as reported by Media Indonesia on Wednesday (30/7).
The ministry also launched the AIGIS Scientific Competition, an innovation contest focused on green industry solutions. Five outstanding works were selected for their strong potential to advance eco-friendly industrial development.
The award recipients came from Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Padjajaran, Universitas Trisakti, Universitas Bina Nusantara, Bandung Textile Technology Polytechnic, and one top participant from the 2024 Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) program from SMAN Bali Mandara.
The awards were presented at the pinnacle of AIGIS, the Youth Green Forum (YGF), themed “Future Green Begins.” The forum provided a platform for students to engage directly with green industry stakeholders.
“We hope this competition will not merely be a contest but will inspire young people, especially on campuses, to continue innovating and developing industries that support economic growth, environmental sustainability, and long-term viability,” Andi concluded.
